We started going to Green Valley ATA and it has been the best decision I have made for my son. Master Durant really cares about the kids. I told him what was going on with my son and he took time out to talk to both of us. When my son has a bad day, he can tell immediately when he walks in the door. Master Durant pays attention to his needs and encourages him to do better every time. My son is now more respectful at home, has more self-esteem, is able to better express himself and is more disciplined in completing his schoolwork. His grades have all improved from C’s, D’s and Fs to ALL A’s! The best part about being involved with Ohana Martial Arts at Green Valley is not only Master Durant, but also the other kids and parents that are there. We have become a family, supporting each other, cheering on each other’s kids, talking to each other, and learning from each other. Recently going through a divorce sent me looking for something for my 11-year-old son where he could release some of his emotions in a positive way and grow. He needed a role model to look up to who showed him how to communicate, be respectful, have discipline, courage, be a leader and have positive self-esteem. Back in February 2018 my son’s grades in school were terrible, and no matter what I did, what teacher I spoke to, how much time I spent with him on homework, his grades did not improve. Then, based on the recommendation of a close friend, I started my son at the Family ATA on Gibson. It was great! Mr. Pyne took the time to talk to my son about his grades and started encouraging him to do better. The only issue with the Gibson location was that it was so far from home.
Then, Master Kevin Durant opened up Family ATA of Green Valley on the corner of Windmill and Pecos. I asked my son if he minded changing locations, and he did not care. Actually, he really wanted to quit. I would not let him quit. We started going to Green Valley ATA and it has been the best decision I have made for my son. Master Durant really cares about the kids. I told him what was going on with my son and he took time out to talk to both of us. When my son has a bad day, he can tell immediately when he walks in the door. Master Durant pays attention to his needs and encourages him to do better every time. When my son needs to cry, he does, and Master Durant is there for him. When his father left him on his birthday, Master Durant involved the whole class for my son’s birthday and made it a happy day for him that he won’t ever forget.

Our children have been students of Senior Master Durant’s for 5 years now. Two of our girls are black belts and also help teach the younger classes. Our boys attend the color belt classes and we even have our 3-year-old daughter in the Dragons class. We originally joined to teach our children how to defend themselves and to be more confident; our expectations continue to be surpassed at this studio. Endless amounts of breaking through personal milestones and accomplishments are everyday occurrences under the instruction of Senior Master, Jaden and James. Seeing children come out of their shell and do things they never thought possible is a reality with Senior Master Durant and his entire team. Jaden has been a huge part of our daughters’ growth and is an awesome role model for all of the kids to follow. Jaden’s bond with the students and genuine desire to see them grow and mature on and off the mat is something we will always be thankful for. We will be here for years to come!

Master Durant is an amazing instructor and role model for the kids. This is an amazing place to teach your children self confidence and discipline. We have 4 and they all immediately responded to and respected him. He will go out of his way to help you with your kids as well. Being at that age where they like to back talk and not listen, he’s been a great resource to help combat that. The kids can’t get away with anything with him and they know it. They all love him and the other instructors, as well. Definitely recommend.

Our son has been with Senior Master Durant since 2018 when he opened his 1st school here in Las Vegas. We chose martial arts for our son to help him focus when he was in the 1st grade. He also struggled with self-confidence, expressing his emotions and was afraid of just about anything and everything. The growth we have seen in the past 5 years, has been amazing to watch 1st hand. Martial arts has taught him to stand up for himself and to defend himself all while teaching him life skills.
Our son will be testing for his 2nd degree blackbelt in December, and he has won 5 World Titles…We appreciate Senior Master Durant and what he teaches his students also his son Jaden, who is a big part of our sons life. He loves the kids and has their best interest at heart. James is his other instructor and watching how far he has come under Senior Masters guidance has been amazing to watch as well. Our instructors and our school is changing kids lives and being here for so long we have seen so many lives changed. We are in the studio at least 5 days a week and it is our 2nd home, our safe place, and we couldn’t be happier to be here with all the other families.

Sometimes, the most important lessons are learned when we fail. These kids showed up and never gave up fighting for their goals of higher belts. When they failed, it didn’t matter because they kept getting up and wiping away tears of disappointment and pushed forward until they had a smile of accomplishment on their face. Master Durant is teaching these students some fantastic things in his dojo as he’s leading all of these kids into greatness!!

The place is always very clean and his staff is friendly, respectful and always very encouraging. I love this place and it’s been very helpful for my daughter. If you like to bring your kids you get a $22.00 for 22 days special.

My daughter went because of a flyer she got from school about a pizza party. We signed up, and just over a year later she is spending everyday after school with this family. She is enjoying the friends she is making and she is learning a lot from Master Durant, Jaden, and James. She is also learning a lot from all the current BLACKBELT Juniors. Everyone there is so nice and helpful. Can’t wait to continue the journey and watch her grow with the guidance from the wonderful group of people here.

To say that Master Durant and his staff are truly incredible is definitely an understatement. The reason we wanted to join ATA was because our 6-year-old was struggling with his self-esteem .
Our son can be very shy around his peers and struggles with social anxiety. His first two months were spent getting him into the mat and to join his classmates. Master Durant always made sure to approach him and engage him. My son slowly began to trust him and began participating in class with Master Durant (one on one). His self-confidence started to grow and now my son looks forward to coming to class and has started to engage in class with the rest of his classmates. I truly feel that this was possible because Master Durant worked with him at his own pace and celebrated all of his milestones.
Our 3-year-old also join also tiny tigers’ classes and loves James. He is learning discipline and making good choices. We are so happy to be part of the family.

Instructors are amazing and caring. Cost is inexpensive at first but lots of fees for testing for belts, sparing, joining alliance to fight and for belt recognition . Fees increase after certain ranks. Its worth it but should be noted. Studio is nice and clean. Has help my child with speaking loud and clearly. Has given my child confidence. Definitely an all around A.

Family Martial Arts of Green Valley has been my family’s home away from home. We started with a Groupon special two and a half years ago. From the first class, my two kids (then, 3rd grade, and 1st grade) were hooked. We soon realized that this place was exactly what we were looking for. Fast forward roughly 30 months and my kiddos are progressing on their way to black belt. The classes focus on more than just the physical aspect of martial arts, but also critical life skills like self-esteem, belief, respect, and honestly, to name a few. Master Durant and his staff have so much patience and understanding and he always stresses that he is willing to listen and help with issues at home. I remember clearly one night somewhere in our first few months when we dealt with an abundance of attitude from our oldest. Master Durant sat on the floor with her and had a big discussion with her. To this day, I don’t know exactly what was said, but there were tears and a hug at the end, and made important improvements at home. I always feel like he has our backs as parents and that means the world to us.
I’ve read some of the other reviews and I have to say our experiences have always been nothing but wonderful. This is something our kids have dedicated themselves to. There is so much opportunity to grow and compete in local and regional tournaments (covid paused that a bit, but we’re ready to get back at it). Our kids have made lifelong friends Thank you Master Durant and staff. You mean more to us than you know.

Family ATA Green Valley has been a true blessing for our family. When we first looked into martial arts for our kids, we knew we wanted to make sure our girls were properly prepared for any situation they are faced with at any age – social skills in elementary, bullying in middle school, the fear of fitting in in high school, rejection or acceptance in college, leadership and authority in adulthood, perception in the workplace, injustice in society, and more. We wanted to make sure they were equipped not only with the skill set to physically protect themselves but also the skill set to mentally protect themselves from others who may want to break down their confidence. We signed up our girls even before the school even officially opened because we found out Family ATA’s life skills were in line with how we wanted to raise our girls. Master Durant has stood by our side from day one in helping us to shape our little girls into respectful, kind, and strong young ladies. He has been able to help them find their own strengths that they didn’t even know they had. He helped them find their own voices in ways they never knew how to communicate before. Master Durant and the rest of the staff and families at Family ATA Green Valley has been the driving force in the success and achievements of our little girls at the school. We are glad we made the decision to come and stay for as long as we have, even if our girls came in kicking, screaming and crying on day one here! Everyone here has definitely become FAMILY!

Our son has a speech delay and has difficulty with communication. Master Durant and everyone at Family ATA Green Valley have been so patient and kind and they never give up on him. They’re showing him to not give up on himself. I wish we’d started sooner.

I wrote a review two years ago about how much I recommend this martial arts studio-and I recommend it even more today. I truly love this school…so much so that I joined the Legacy program to become an instructor. I have been with this school for almost two and a half years. I began as a white belt and will be testing soon for my 1st degree black belt. I love the training I receive here and working with the other students. We all help each other, and life skills that are taught are just as important as the physical training. The students and parents have become a large family here…. we genuinely care and look out for each other. And on a plus side…if you like competition, the tournaments are a lot of fun and myself personally-I’ve made many new friends from across the United States that I have competed with. For me…it’s a win-win.

My grandchildren and daughter started coming here right after they opened. I could see a change in the entire family dynamic. Granted-my grandchildren are not really troublesome, but there are always life lessons to be learned, respect to be taught along with the actual martial art itself. Learning a martial art has been on my bucket list…so I joined a few months ago and I LOVE IT and I’m hooked!!!! This school is truly for the entire family!!!! Here you will learn the art of Taekwondo, but you will learn more than that….No participation trophys here….If you want to advance you must earn it…like everything else in life. Master Kevin Durant is an amazing teacher and truly cares about all of his students and their successes! I highly recommend this school and instructor and trust me when I tell you that you will not be sorry to be a part of this school.

A Minnesota family walks into Master Durant’s ATA studio…. kind of sounds like a start of a joke, right? Well, it’s not, this ATA is no joke! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a handshake for me and hug for my wife…I wish I received the hug…anyways Master Durant welcomed our two young kids into his studio with open arms. I watched Master Durant and his assistants very closely from the start and how the studio trained our kids and how he handled other students in his studio. After attending 3 classes or so I knew if Master Durant offered to babysit my kids I would have no worries, in other words I felt completely comfortable on how he handles his students! The exact quote that came into my head was Master Durant is firm when he needs to be but fair! I thoroughly enjoyed watching Master Durant teach a class, when students would get out of line like disrupting the class he is trying to teach he handles the situation very well, as a parent I teach my children to respect people and that’s what our kids did when they were on Master Durants time. I also enjoyed when Master Durant would get the parents involved in the tigers class… for example when he asked me to come onto the floor so he could show the tigers class what the 9 strikes looked like on a person with the bahng mehng ee weapon, I trusted him but the ninth strike made me nervous!! I really enjoyed the time my kids got spend learning from Master Durant, Jaden, and James.
There is one moment in particular that will always be remembered by us, we had just got the kids signed up for tigers sparring class on Friday’s our daughter was full on ready to go but our son was soooo nervous. He had his uniform and all of his gear on, he started tearing up and then started crying stating he was scared… we called over Master Durant and asked him if he could take a moment to calm our son down and get him on the sparring floor. Master Durant came over and sat on the floor with our son and explained to him that everything was going to be just fine and in no way was he going to let him get hurt. They both walked onto the sparring floor together and Master Durant was right there with our son through most his sparring rounds, by the next class our son was happily ready to spar and his confidence level was boosted!!! Master Durant was sooo good with our children and I wish we could still be attending his class.
Master Durant, Jaden, and James are about as good as it comes… except for Chuck Norris…he’s not better than Chuck Norris…

My Son goes to this school, and I must say it is the best. He’s 7 years old and it’s AMAZING the life lessons he has learned under Master Kevin Durant. Self-defense is one aspect, but the discipline, honesty and integrity are something well above and beyond which is why we love this school. If you get a chance, you should go check it out as it’s not just for younger students but ALL persons of all ages.

Our Son has been going to this ATA for about 4 months now and we absolutely love it!!! Master Durant and his staff are amazing. We were at a different ATA for over and year and we were not as happy as we are now. Not only is he tough on our kid he is caring and truly wants to see our son succeed, and that’s what we love. Our son is going on two years now in Martial Arts, and he has learned more at this school in the last 4 months than at his previous ATA. We definitely recommend this ATA for anyone. You will honestly love it.
